i was getting all boisterous and voiciferous about an abstract subject, getting really enthusiastic about it, as if it had to be "The reality" for all beings in the universe. my friend said to me: "oh, so it has meaning for you." at that point i grew up a little bit more. instead of always fighting to be heard and that my idea is "the idea", and you better accept it or else; i realized the same subject, idea, fact, or set of facts may or may not have meaning for someone depending on the person. wow! less arguing and debating with people and more listening. well, a little more listening, but it gets a little better everyday.
speaking of "a little more" everyday, check out "...incremental change is better than ambitious failure.", from the book Happier: Learn the Secrets to Daily Joy and Lasting Fulfillment
by Tal Ben-Shahar (pg 9).
